It's beautiful but undevelopedHi JanJan
I delayed replying to your message in the hope somebody more expert than I on San Vicente might give advice, but it seems that yes, San Vicente is still pretty much undiscovered. I went there for a few days two years ago and loved the place, although we stayed with friends so I didn't get to experience the resort accommodation there.
San Vicente via Port Barton is about 150 km from Puerto Princesa and a lot further from the El Nido area. There are frequent bus trips from Puerto Princesa and I think also a regular ferry.
The place is lovely with beautiful scenery and beaches including one white sand beach that's 12km or 14 km long (depending on whose claim

and also nice waterfalls. It is still very undeveloped. The few resorts I saw were basic hut accommodation, so you have to like that sort of style. There are good local restaurants serving great seafood. Power cuts were frequent at nights when I was there.
Overall I would highly recommend San Vicente if you like discovering new places with not many tourists and if you don't mind 2 and 3 star accommodation. I sometimes hear of San Vicente being the "next Boracay" ... maybe, but it's got a long way to go and you have lots of time before then
